Home Shop POWERbreathe Plus – Medium Resistance
This Plus Medium device is ideal for people who are moderately fit to very fit and suits the majority of people who are physically active.
The range between each training level is broader than that offered by the ‘light resistance’ model. This means that as your breathing muscles become stronger and you move up one of the training levels by increasing the resistance, there is a larger increase in cmH2O, making training more of a challenge.
The device offers a āmedium resistanceā to breathing in, provided by the adjustable spring loaded valve. This āloadā training is similar to weightlifting, and in the instance of this āmedium resistanceā device, provides a variable level of load setting (weight lifted) in increments of 16/17cmH2O, from 23cmH2O to 186cmH2O.

Description
POWERbreathe Plus is designed to be simple and easy to use. With 11 easily adjustable levels over time you will be able to strengthen your inspiratory breathing muscles. Helping you to increase your stamina and overall wellness.
The POWERbreathe Plus is the second generation of mechanical breathing trainers, and features the following design improvements:
Our scientifically proven training regime of 30 breaths, twice a day typically takes only a few minutes and, used properly, you should start to see the benefits within just a few weeks.
Inspiratory muscle training is proven by sports scientists and medical professionals to exercise and strengthen the muscles used to breathe in.
Which Resistance?
Adjustable Load Selection Range
Please note: Heavy resistance is only for those who have reached maximum loading on a medium resistance model. If you start with a heavy resistance model, you will not experience the benefits of POWERbreathe Plus training and may struggle to acheive higher levels due to the faster progression between loads.
Precise load settings may vary due to: (1) the analogue nature of the calibrated spring tensioner and the precision with which the load is selected; (2) a small effect of inspiratory flow rate upon spring compression such that high inspiratory flow rates lead to greater spring compression, and a small increase in load.
This effect is common to all spring loaded devices, and its size is magnified by increasing spring range (it is larger in a spring with a maximum range of 90cmH2O compared with one with half this range), it is also greater at lower absolute load settings.

What is the difference between: POWERbreathe Plus ā Medium Resistance SKU: PB2005 $65 and POWERbreathe Classic ā Medium Resistance SKU: PB1002 $39.95 ?
Vanessa Potter – September 10, 2021
Thank you Ted for your enquiry. The POWERbreathe Classic Medium provides a variable level of load setting (weight lifted) in increments of 20cmH2O, from 10cmH2O to 170cmH2O. Whereas, the POWERbreathe Plus Medium provides a variable level of load setting (weight lifted) in increments of 16/17cmH2O, from 23cmH2O to 186cmH2O. What this means for the user, is that the Plus increases in resistance more gradually than the Classic, making it more manageable. Also, the Plus is a more ergonomic design and has a more comfortable mouthpiece. The training levels are also visible on the handle of the Plus, whereas for the Classic you would have to remove the handle cover to increase the resistance. I hope that helps Ted. Best wishes to you.

Thank you so much for your comment Stu, and we’re delighted to hear how you’ve found your POWERbreathe inspiratory muscle training to be so beneficial. We’re very happy the issue was resolved quickly for you so that you didn’t un-do all the good your training had achieved so far.

An update on my progress I just wanted to give you an update on my progress with the Powerbreathe. After using it since early August 2 times a day for 30 breaths (up until recently I was only able to do 30 breaths once a day), I now can run over 3 miles in 30 minutes even though I have asthma. I do not use my inhaler and I know using the Powerbreathe is one of the major reasons that it is much easier to run without my inhaler.

Thank you for the brilliant advice over which product I needed. I took your advice and bought the medium resistance one in black. If I had bought the high resistance one I would have been struggling to start. There is a great deal of space for improvement and doubt if I will ever need the high resistance one! Thanks. Have just started using it and even at a low setting it is quite a challenge.
