Flow-Ball Ultra® (Box of 10) - Red

Price range: £69.90 through £79.90

The Flow-Ball Ultra® is a simple to use breathing device designed to support a range of breathing exercises and help improve breath control. Featuring two differently sized openings in the handle and two balls of different weights and materials, the Flow-Ball offers eight levels of resistance to the flow of your out-breath.

This gives you plenty of options for varying your Flow-Ball breathing exercises, making it particularly useful for singers, musicians and anyone looking to practise greater control over their breathing. A kids version is also available in green. This version has a simpler single-ball design without the adjustable air holes, providing a straightforward introduction to breathing exercises for children.

Description

Flow-Ball Ultra® Breathing Exercise Tool for Teaching Breath Control

The Flow-Ball Ultra® builds on the bestselling original Flow-Ball, offering a simple and engaging way to practise controlled breathing and develop the power of your exhalation. The visual movement of the ball makes Flow-Ball breathing exercises easy to follow. This helps you see how steadily and consistently you are breathing out.

Easy and fun

The Flow-Ball Ultra® turns breathing exercises into a visual activity. By keeping the ball raised as you breathe out, you can immediately see how well you are controlling your airflow. This makes each exercise more engaging and easier to work out whether you’re getting better or not. It can even be quite entertaining to practice with friends and family.

8 levels of resistance

The Flow-Ball Ultra® can be adjusted to suit different abilities and breathing exercises. Featuring different size holes, in total across the models there are eight ‘resistance levels’. This makes it easy to increase or reduce the challenge depending on the individual user. It also means you can progress through the levels of resistance as you improve.

Flow-Ball breathing is suitable for everyone

Adults and children can use the Flow-Ball Ultra® for a variety of breathing exercises. Children under three years of age must be supervised due to the inclusion of small parts.

Kids can use any of the Flow-Balls, but the Green has been designed especially for children. It offers only 1 level of resistance and 1 size of ball, but still with all the fun.

Sustainable Breathing Device

The black version offers the same Flow-Ball Ultra® functionality but is made exclusively from recycled plastic.

Breath Control Exercises

The Flow-Ball Ultra® helps make breathing practice more visual, interactive and engaging. As well as simply keeping the ball raised with a steady out-breath, you can introduce different challenges that encourage greater control and consistency in your exhalation. You can even make some of the challenges competitive amongst friends and family.

One simple exercise is to blow the ball as high into the air as possible, then try to turn around and catch it before it falls. This adds a fun challenge while encouraging a strong, controlled out-breath.

You can also place a small bowl or container on a table and try to blow the ball into it from different distances. Moving the target further away can make the exercise progressively more difficult and requires greater control over the direction and power of your breath.

For a two-person activity, one person can use their Flow-Ball Ultra® to blow the ball into the air while another tries to catch it using the basket of their own device. This can turn breath control exercises into a social activity.

Another option is to see how long you can keep the ball suspended in the air. Rather than focusing on a powerful exhalation, this exercise requires a steady and consistent airflow to maintain the ball’s position for as long as possible. You can also repeatedly blow the ball into the air and catch it again in the Flow-Ball basket, challenging yourself to complete as many successful repetitions as possible.

For an additional challenge, gently tilt the Flow-Ball Ultra® upwards or downwards while blowing. With the right airflow, you can make the ball rotate around its own axis at different speeds, encouraging you to experiment with more precise breath control.

These exercises can be completed individually, with children or as part of a group activity. The Flow-Ball Ultra® can even be incorporated into parties, providing a fun way to practise controlled breathing without the exercise feeling repetitive.

How to Use

Using the Flow-Ball is really easy. Simply blow through the breathing device to lift the ball, and, by using your breath control, try to hold the ball there for as long as possible.

By varying your breath control, you could try catching the ball in the basket as you blow through the device with more force.

The new 8 levels of resistance also help to vary the breathing exercise. It achieves this by featuring two holes of different sizes in the handle, as well as two balls of different weights. It is this unique combination that provides you with 8 levels of resistance training.

How to Clean Your Flow-Ball Ultra®

As the Flow-Ball Ultra® comes into contact with your mouth during use, regular cleaning will help keep the device hygienic and ready for your next breathing exercise.

After use, remove the ball and separate the removable parts of the Flow-Ball Ultra®. Wash the components in warm, soapy water before rinsing them thoroughly with clean water. Allow all parts to dry completely before reassembling and storing the device somewhere clean and dry.

For hygiene reasons, the Flow-Ball Ultra® is  an individual-use breathing device and it is not recommended for use by multiple users.

Benefits of Using The Flow-Ball Ultra®

Controlled breathing can make a significant difference to the performance of singers and musicians. The Flow-Ball Ultra® helps users practise producing a steady, consistent out-breath, which can support better breath management. This is an important skill to have when singing or playing a wind or brass instrument.

Singers will be able to sustain longer notes with regular practice. They will be able to control volume and manage phrases without running out of breath too quickly. Wind and brass musicians can use Flow-Ball breathing exercises to practise maintaining a more consistent airflow, which is important for producing a steady tone and controlling longer passages of music.

Because the movement of the ball provides instant visual feedback, users can see when their airflow changes and adjust their breathing accordingly. This makes the Flow-Ball Ultra® a simple way to practise the breath control needed for more consistent performance.
