POWERbreathe EX1 Expiratory Muscle Trainer

Unlock the power of your breathing with the POWERbreathe expiratory muscle trainer.

Expiratory muscle training known as EMT or EMST, strengthens the muscles used for breathing out. These muscles are important for coughing, swallowing, voice and airway protection, in particular for people with Parkinson’s Disease, stroke rehabilitation and other neurodegenerative conditions. The POWERbreathe EX1 is a drug-free, hand-held device that trains your expiratory muscles to improve strength, reduce aspirations and support health and vocal performance.

Offering the widest range of resistance levels on the market, the POWERbreathe EX1 range of devices has been developed in conjunction with Speech and Language Therapists around the world. Our expiratory muscle trainer is a simple, comfortable and effective device to use every day. You can now upgrade and digitalise the EX1 with the POWERbreathe Smart Adaptor and ActiBreathe® App for real-time feedback, personalised breathing guidance, expiratory muscle strength testing and comprehensive analysis on your phone or tablet. The Smart Adaptor takes your EMST device and training to the next level, calculating an appropriate training level for your needs, and reminding you when its time to train.

The POWERbreathe EX1 is easy to use and adjust. In a seated or standing position, hold the EMT device in an upright position; do not block the air inlet at the bottom. Place the mouthpiece in your mouth and breathe in fully. Once your lungs are full, breathe out through the device as fast and forceful as you can. Squeeze as much air out of your lungs as possible. Repeat the process again. You can remove the expiratory muscle trainer from your mouth during inhalation if you find it easier or more comfortable. As a guide, we recommended performing 5 exhalations, 5 times per day, for 5 days. After that time, review your resistance level as you may be able to increase the load.

I think they are all great if they do what they say they do, I would love a chance to try one because I am a small cell lung cancer surviver and still have breathing issues
