Declaration of Conformity is an essential, legal document stating that products meet all of the requirements of the applicable UK and EU directives and regulations. This is the POWERbreathe conformity declaration.

A new conformity declaration mark, the UKCA (United Kingdom Conformity Assessed), is being phased in from 1st January 2021 to replace the CE mark in the UK. This is as a result of the UK leaving the EU single market on 31st December 2020. Furthermore, the UKCA mark will only apply in Great Britain. This means that CE marking will continue in Northern Ireland, as it aligns with the EU single market in terms of trading goods. Therefore, products for sale across the whole of the UK will require both UKCA and CE marking.

What Is The United Kingdom Conformity Assessed (UKCA) Mark?

It is a mandatory mark on a product indicating that it conforms to UK legislation.

What Is The Conformitè Europëenne (CE) Mark?

It is a mandatory conformity marking on a product showing that it complies with the EU’s New Approach Directives. This applies to products that are for sale within the European Economic Area (EEA). (The CE mark is remaining temporarily valid in Great Britain in order to help ease the changeover.)

Differences Between UKCA And CE Marking

For administrative reasons only, there are now two assessment marks, with the UK Conformity Assessment only applying in the UK. Therefore, the UKCA only requires information in English.
