Your POWERbreathe K-Series and KH-Series IMT device will be exposed to saliva during use. It is important to clean your POWERbreathe K-Series device frequently to keep it hygienic and in good working order. Regular cleaning After each training session, remove the Valve Head from your device as demonstrated in your user manual, and soak it in warm water for about ten minutes. Now hold the valve head under warm running water whilst opening and closing the valve to aid cleaning of the valve surfaces. Shake off excess water and leave on a clean towel to dry. Wipe-clean the POWERbreathe handset with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the handset or expose it to running water as this will damage the internal electronics. Once a week Once a week, perform the same procedure but soak the valve head in POWERbreathe Cleansing Solution instead of water. After cleaning, hold the valve head under a running tap allowing water to run through it. Shake off excess water and leave on a clean towel to dry. Points to note The POWERbreathe K-Series and KH-Series handset is not waterproof and should not be submerged or exposed to liquids. Never use scouring pads, abrasive cleaning agents or aggressive liquids such as petrol or acetone to clean the appliance. Cold water sterilisation only. Not suitable for sterilisation by boiling, steam, microwave, oven or dishwasher.
I am in the U.S., where the POWERbreathe Cleansing Solution is not available. What should I use to clean the valve head? Reply
The POWERbreathe cleansing tablets are similar to those used for cleaning a baby’s bottle and are safe for anything that comes into contact with the mouth. So you could use something in the USA that has a similar use. But you could use a washing-up liquid solution, as this is used to clean utensils etc that come into contact with your mouth (and saliva). Just be sure you rinse the valve head completely and allow it to dry completely, so there’s no risk of you breathing any of it in. Hope this helps. Reply
Boa noite! Gostaria de saber se só colocar o aparelho Power breathe Classic de molho com a pastilha não poderá enferrujar a Câmara interior? Essa câmara interior usa algum tipo de mola para ajustar a carga ? Reply
Thank you for your enquiry. Yes, you are correct in that the calibrated spring does adjust the load and can be found within the chamber. It is however, made from stainless steel, the same as cutlery, and is therefore strong, durable, easy to care for and resistant to water and washing. Here’s a video of how to clean your POWERbreathe Classic. Reply
Hello Habs. We usually recommend our cleansing tablets for cleaning the valve head, as they provide a safe, deep clean. But yes, I don’t see why you couldn’t use washing-up liquid as this too is going to be used on utensils etc that come into contact with your mouth (and saliva). Just be sure you rinse the valve head completely, and dry it completely, so there’s no risk of you breathing any of it in. Also, just a gentle reminder that it is only the valve head that needs cleaning – and can be cleaned. Reply
Can you sterilize the K3 mouth unit with UV rays? I just bought a K3 and I am in the US and am trying to figure out how to sterilize it when it occurred to me that I own a Homesoap UV sanitizer that cleans devices with 254NM UV for 10 minutes. Will this work for the K3 mouth unit? Any insights are much appreciated. Link is below https://www.phonesoap.com/products/homesoap/ Reply
Hello and thank you for your enquiry. I’m afraid we haven’t yet tested these UV light boxes but can’t see any reason why it shouldn’t work, assuming all the light can get inside the valve head. If you do use a light box, please ensure that the valve itself is closed. This will expose all the white plates inside the valve head. If you were to leave it open, then there would be overlapping of the plates, reducing the amount of surface that would be cleaned by the light. However, having said that, we would still recommend washing the valve head in hot soapy water because it is exposed to saliva and moisture which will make it ‘sticky’, and the light box won’t get rid of this stickiness. But, as the handheld unit doesn’t come into contact with saliva, we imagine the light box should be fine. Reply
