Both models are Heavy Resistance (HR) and so have the same resistance loads. The only difference is the colour of the unit – the red model came first, and the black models came later. The black models are available in all resistances, Light Resistance (LR), Medium Resistance (MR) and Heavy Resistance (HR). So the red and the black (HR) have the same resistance loads.
I have a Powerbreathe Plus Blue. Your instruction says to exhale through the device but can I exhale by removing it from my mouth and outside of it? Since there is no resistance involved in exhalation, what is the logic for exhaling into it? It would avoid a lot of saliva going back into the device! Reply
Hello Mayumi and thank you for your email. The first exhale is to empty all the air out of your lungs. This is so that you’re able to take the biggest breath in possible. You can do this without the POWERbreathe IMT device in your mouth. Then, after taking a fast, forceful breath in through the device, you exhale slowly, naturally, as your expiratory muscles relax again. You can with do this with the POWERbreathe IMT device in your mouth, or not. Many people take the device out of their mouth at this point to reduce saliva, but it is totally your preference. I thought it might be helpful to provide you with a link to a video on our YouTube channel, demonstrating Breathing Technique for POWERbreathe. I hope that helps and thank you again for getting in touch. Reply
