We developed the rechargeable, electronic POWERbreathe Smart Adaptor to enable users of POWERbreathe Plus (IMT) devices, POWERbreathe EX1 (EMT) devices and, ultimately, POWERbreathe Shaker Deluxe devices, to visualise their breathing improvements in real-time. We listened to our customers who asked us to provide a means for quantifying their training on the mechanical series of POWERbreathe breathing trainers: POWERbreathe Plus IMT and POWERbreathe EX1 EMT.
So here it is. The rechargeable POWERbreathe Smart Adaptor, paired via Bluetooth® wireless technology with the companion ActiBreathe® App, provides informative breathing training feedback that helps you optimise your breathing training. Designed to improve your training technique and therefore results and benefits, this innovative duo combines advanced technology with personalised guidance for a more enlightening respiratory experience.
Uniquely, the POWERbreathe Smart Adaptor is a standalone device. You can use it independently of your POWERbreathe breathing device to perform a breathing strength test by using the ‘Strength Test Plug’ provided within the Smart Adaptor’s main body.
Here’s how it works: Instead of attaching the Smart Adaptor to your POWERbreathe device, insert the ‘Strength Test Plug’ into the main body of the Smart Adaptor and perform your breathing strength test.

How To Use the Smart Adaptor & ActiBreathe® App
About The ActiBreathe® App
The ActiBreathe® App begins by asking you to complete a survey about your personal health and activity level. This information is essential for the app’s training level suggestion functionality, to enable customisation for each user’s lifestyle.
This provides an overview of your breathing activity in terms of data collection, such as:
Here you will see your current training plan which consists of training level set; number of breaths per session; number of sessions per day; and number of days per week.
Maximal inspiratory pressure and maximal expiratory pressure are global measures of the maximal strength of your respiratory muscles.
The POWERbreathe Breathing Strength Test uses these global measures to evaluate your lung capacity and the app guides you towards performing a successful test. Based on the result of your test, the app will create a customised training protocol for you i.e. ‘what level to train at’.
Based on the Strength Test value achieved after performing the Strength Test, the app suggests the most appropriate training plan/s for you to select from.
This is where you perform your initial breathing session that contributes to establishing your training plan.
After matching the resistance level on your POWERbreathe IMT/EMT device to the one set for training on the app and pressing the start button, you will be able to see live stats during your breathing session, such as the time passed; number of successful breaths (where you have reached the required level); number of breath attempts (all attempts, not just those that reach the required level); a line graph of each breath; your current training activity type (sitting, standing, functional, etc); and resistance level.
Visit this page to review your performance over time via a history graph, over a range of periods (week, month, year, all time). These statistics include Maximum Inhalation/Exhalation Pressure [cmH2O], Average time to lift valve [ms], Average Inhalation/Exhalation Time [ms], Precision Score [%], etc. Descriptions of these statistics are provided on the app.
