Our POWERbreathe friends and distributor in Hong Kong, Health Care & Co, have been busy again during the past couple of months taking POWERbreathe to the AustSports sports association, Thai boxing coaches, the Hong Kong Health Expo 2013 and an awareness demonstration at the Princess Margaret Hospital in Hong Kong. And they’re working on a POWERbreathe road show with POWERbreathe athlete and Hong Kong half marathon record holder, Gi Ka Man.
POWERbreathe at AustSports Sports Association
AustSports Association is a professional body of coaches committed to promoting athletics, swimming and triathlon in Hong Kong. Health Care & Co will be working closely with AustSports, providing inspiratory muscle training with POWERbreathe to their 250 members. There will be demonstrations, a POWERbreathe workshop and training support for club members, and AustSports’ elite team who compete in major Hong Kong events will be wearing the POWERbreathe logo on their running jersey’s.
POWERbreathe for Thai Boxers and Coaches
POWERbreathe has also been introduced to Thai boxing coaches for their Thai boxers who require not only leg strength and speed, but also endurance, stamina and good cardiovascular health. POWERbreathe inspiratory muscle training will help them strengthen their breathing muscles for improved stamina and endurance, and it is intended that POWERbreathe will be integrated into their body conditioning training.
Thai boxing is physically intensive, with punches, kicks, elbow and knee strikes, and at the end of a workout boxers are exhausted, so POWERbreathe will also be introduced to the Thai boxers for use as an inspiratory warm-up, to help avoid breathlessness from the start, and for recovery, because a POWERbreathe cool-down can help speed lactate clearance even more effectively than traditional recovery strategies. In fact 2012 Olympic Bronze Medallist and elite level British Judo Athlete, Karina Bryant, has been using POWERbreathe to help clear lactate between her fights and help improve her breathing stamina during the later stages of her fights too.
POWERbreathe at Healthy Living Expo 2013
POWERbreathe also had a stand at the Healthy Living Expo 2013, held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. This three day exhibition focused on health, fitness, sports and lifestyle with sports demo’s, free physicals, workshops and medical seminars, including disease prevention. POWERbreathe was presented to healthcare professionals, personal trainers and individuals for inspiratory muscle training for improving fitness and sports performance, and for helping to improve the symptoms in people with breathing difficulties such as asthma and COPD.

POWERbreathe at Princess Margaret Hospital
Health Care & Co also took POWERbreathe to the Princess Margaret Hospital in Hong Kong, the flagship hospital in the Kowloon West Cluster with a speciality in Pulmonary Medicine. Here they raised awareness of POWERbreathe Inspiratory Muscle Training for pulmonary rehabilitation in patients with COPD.
POWERbreathe on the road with Gi Ka Man
And in August, Health Care & Co will be out on a road show with POWERbreathe athlete and Head Coach of the Hong Kong running club, Runners Athletic Club, Gi Ka Man inviting other athletes and people interested in sport to have their breathing strength tested using the POWERbreathe K5, and enlightening them on the benefits of inspiratory muscle training with POWERbreathe.
