POWERbreathe® - putting extra sting in London Wasps’ tail

Warwickshire, England (Dec 1st, 2008).

POWERbreathe, the world’s no.1 breathing trainer, announces a three-year product support agreement with 2007 - 2008 Guinness Premiership Champions, London Wasps Rugby Club. POWERbreathe will be introduced into the players’ daily training, helping them reach peak physical fitness and providing them with an advantage in today’s highly competitive Rugby arena.

As Rugby players are subjected to a vast range of physical confrontations, conflicting demands are placed upon the breathing muscles. As well as simply breathing, these muscles are essential in rotating and maneuvering the upper body, all of which are necessary when performing basic rugby skills such as passing and kicking. POWERbreathe training is scientifically proven to improve breathing muscle strength by up to 45%, improving performance and stamina.

Huw Davies, Wasps Conditioning Coach commented:

“We are greatly looking forward to working with POWERbreathe and seeing the performance gains the device can bring. We will be integrating the device in a range of different ways in order improve player fitness, match preparation and recovery.”

Sports scientist and respiratory physiologist, Dr Alison McConnell continued:

“Following an intense bout of activity such as a sprint, breathing is driven to its highest levels, inducing extreme breathlessness. If players are to continue to make an active and effective contribution to the game, their breathing must recover quickly.”

POWERbreathe training is scientifically proven to improve inspiratory muscle strength by up to 45%; accelerate recovery during repeated sprints by up to 7%; warm-up the breathing muscles which normal warm-up routines fail to do; and speed up lactate clearance more effectively than traditional active recovery strategies.
